Thank you note from Bishop Rethna Swamy (Diocese of Ahmedabad) on conclusion of his Canada visit to Cujarati Catholic Parivar, Canada.
Bishop Rathnaswamy of Ahmedabad arrived at L.B. Pearson airport of Toronto on Feb 27th, and was welcomed by several members of the community at the airport. This is his first visit to Canada. He participated and addressed people at St. David’s Dinner and Dance event, held on Feb 29, which is an yearly fundraising event for the sister parish of St. Joseph Parish of Tarapur, Gujarat. This is the seventh year of the event.
The welcome of Bishop Rathnaswamy by Gujarati Catholic Parivar of Canada(GCPC) was held on March 1st, at St. David’s Catholic Church, Maple, Ontario. The procession began at 3:00 pm with Knights of Columbus, Alter servers, readers, and offertory participants. The solemn mass was concelebrated by Rev. Bishop Rathnaswamy of Ahmedabad, Fr. Ernesto Da Cicio(the parish priest), Fr. Lijo, Fr. Paul and Fr. Mani. At the end of the mass, there was a group photo session with the congregation. There were about 100 members present. Large number of students participated in the event. The choir, offertory procession, prayers during the mass were organized by Malti Macwan.

With immense pleasure we would like to inform you that His Excellency Athanasius Rethna Swamy will be visiting Toronto between 28th February and 8th March 2020. The purpose of his visit is to participate in the “Annual Fund Raiser Event” organized by St. David’s Parish, Maple to support Church activities in Tarapur, Gujarat, and attend official meetings within Archdiocese of Toronto and spend some time with our Gujarati catholic community in the Greater Toronto Area.
GCPC has organized a program to welcome and honor His Excellency. Details are as follows:

Procession : 2:00 pm
Mass in Gujarati : 3:00 pm
Program and Dinner : 4:30 pm onwards
Contribution : Adults, students on work permit/PR and children above 10 years- $15 per person,
Children 10 years and below- No Charge, International Students-No Charge
Kindly RSVP by 15 February, 2020 in order to help us properly organize the program. No RSVP required for those who would like to attend the high Mass only and not the program and dinner.

NOTE: This year’s “Family Day” will mark completion of 7 years of formation of GCPC. Instead of 17th February, 2020, we will be celebrating “Family Day” on 1 March, 2020.
