Fr. Sunil Samuel Macwan is a second child of Mr. Samuel Pius Macwan (Chaklasi) and late Mrs. Julie Sylvester Macwan (Valasan) and was born at Chaklasi on January 13, 1977. He has twins elder sisters Manisha and Suchita both are in teaching profession. He has one younger brother Ankit (Ph.D. in bio-chemistry and currently working for a pharmaceutical company in Sweden). Fr. William Macwan is his uncle.
Fr. Sunil’s mother Mrs. Julie Macwan just passed away on July 05, 2013.
After completing his primary school in Chaklasi he joined St. Xavier’s High School, Anand and graduated from there. He completed his B.A. from Gujarati University (St. Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad) in English Literature and M.A. from Chennai in Philosophy. In January 2013 he joined Marquette Jesuit University in Milwaukee for a Master’s degree in English literature.
In 1994 at the age of 17 he joined the Candidate House in Ahmedabad. Please find below his journey since then:
Jesuit Formation (training):
Joined the Candidate House in Ahmedabad in 1994 at age 17.
Joined the Jesuit Novitiate at Sughad, Ahmedabad, in 1997.
Went through the different stages of Jesuit training in places such as Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Vadodara.
Was ordained a priest on November 27th, 2010 at St. Xavier Parish, Anand.
Served in the South Gujarat Mission of Unai from December 2010 to June 2012.
From July – December 2012, taught English to the Jesuit Candidates (pre-novices) in Ahmedabad while preparing to come to Marquette.
Since January 2013 enrolled at the Marquette Jesuit University in Milwaukee for a Master’s degree in English Literature.
Teaching and Work Experience:
In-charge of a Hostel for tribal youth in Zankhvav, South Gujarat, 2004-2005.
English teacher at Shanti Niketan High School Zankhvav for tribal boys and girls, 2004-2005.
In-charge of a Hostel for Dalit youth in Khambhat, 2005-2006.
English teacher at St.Xavier’s High School, Khambhat, 2005-2006.
English teacher and Resource person for Personality Development Camps organized by Education Cell South Gujarat and Ashadeep, Ankur V.Vidhyanagar, Dt.Anand, Gujarat, since 2002.

Mariyamben wife of Bhanubhai Jethabhai Makwana from Pandoli passed away on 24/7/13. Prayer meeting in her memory will be held on Sunday 28th July, 2013 at Community Hall, St. Xavier’s Road, Padharia, Anand from 10 am.
