   Society of St.Vincent de Paul Annual Feast Celebrations

 

The Annual Feast Celebrations of SSVP, Central Council of Ahmedabad and St. Joseph Conference, Maninagar, Ahmedabad to mark their completion of 6th and 19th years respectively were held at “Khrist Nivas”, St.Joseph Church, Maninagar on Sunday, 25-09-2016 in two parts. I.e. Holy Mass and AGM 2016.

 

Before the Holy Eucharist, a procession by all the Vincentians lead by Br.Daniel M .Christi, CC President with Holy Bible for its enthronement was taken out. All the participant members were given a Gujarati Book “DAYA NO SPARSH ‘written by Fr.Ambrose Dabhi and sponsored by the local St.Joseph’s Conference. His Most Rev. Thomas Macwan, Arch Bishop Gandhinagar Diocese along with Rev .Frs. Charles Gyan Prakash, Ambrose Dabhi, Spiritual Advisers to CC and AC respectively David Parmar, Salvador Britto have joined .. The photo of St.Vincent de Paul was garlanded by His Most Rev. Thomas Macwan; the local President Br. Rajesh gave an introductory speech stating that it is a great pleasure for hosting SSVP Annual Feast inviting 33 Conferences as one family at Maninagar under the banner of SSVP and gave warm welcome to all the Vincentians.

 

Arch Bishop Thomas in his homily stressed upon the work of charity done by the SSVP in the Diocese of Ahmedabad .Rev.Fr. Charles Gyanprakash, Spiritual Adviser administered the oath to the new members and renewal thereof in the presence of Arch Bishop, the CC President Br.Daniel and all. SSVP members of the both local Conferences lead the choir in a meaningful manner.

 

After the Holy Mass, CC Annual General Meeting 2016 was gathered in the Church the Vincentian Prayer was offered. His .Most Rev. Thomas Macwan, Mr. Natubhai L. Makwana, with all dignitaries’ were invited to the function. The Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martis, Principal, St.Xavier’s Hansol could not attend due to some urgent assignment. Lighting of the Lamp was done followed by a Prayer Dance., an Introduction and bouquet. Br. Jasvant Macwan, Vice President in his introductory speech informed about the life of St.Vincent and Vincentian Family. The CC President Br.Daniel welcomed each and every one who has come here far from Ankleshwar to Gandhinagar to attend the Annual Feast.

 

The Annual Reports for Local St.Joseph Conference, Area Council of Ahmedabad and Central Council along with CC Treasurer Report were read out .Kit to the adopted families, scholarship cheques to the students of St. Joseph Conference were handed over. Rev. Frs. Ambrose Dabhi,

 

Br.Cyril Secretary with the great pleasure declared that with the kind efforts made by Rev.Fr.Valerian Saldahna, former CC Adviser and now Parish Priest, Amod, a project of CC Ahmedabad is going to implement an “Ozanam Ashram”-A Home for Disabled Persons at Village Pandoli via Petlad under the Amod Parish. He informed the gathering that Rt .Rev. Thomas Macwan, the then Bishop of Ahmedabad / now Arch Bishop Gandhinagar was kind enough to grant us necessary permission for the Roman catholic School situated at Village Pandoli to run the activities of charity. A Memorandum of Understanding thereon have already been signed and renovation work is going on. This project will be a history in the SSVP Gujarat since 1961. He invited Br.Simon S. Christian, Vice Chairman to Ozanam Ashram to speak about and first donation sum of Rs.25, 000/-offered by Mrs. Kokila and Mr. Silas Christian in their daughter’s name

 

Br. Daud F. Christian, President, AC Ahmedabad has handed over a cheque for Rs. 1, 11,000/-(Rs.10,000/-each donated by 10 Conferences under AC Ahmedabad which includes Rs.21, 000/-from St. Joseph Conference, Maninagar) Fr.Ambrose Dabhi also declared donation towards CC Medical Fund for Rs.11, 000/-Seminary Fund amounting to Rs.5000/-was handed over to Most Rev. Thomas Macwan, Arch Bishop, Gandhinagar by CC President Br. Daniel .

 

The event ended with the concluding prayer by Sr .Philomena Christi followed by Blessings of Arch Bishop Thomas Macwan. Vote of thanks done by Br. Suresh Philip, Sr. Vice President. The responsibility of the announcers were rest with Brs. Emanuel Christi (Maninagar) and Cyril Macwan, Secretary, CC.

 

After the lunch at CNI Church Premises all were disbursed in a happy and healthy mood.
