Mr. Kanubhai Parmar, good friend of mine and main contributor and news provider for this website from Anand,Gujarat just came back from Kerala. He was there to participate in “International Symposium on Christian and Muslim” dialogue: Pastoral Challenges, held on August 10 & 11, 2012. There were total four people fromGujarat participated per list below:
 
1.  Mr. Bhanubhai Makawana from Padhariya (retired Air force staff)
2.  Mr. Paulbhai Paiza from Maningar (retired teacher)
3.  Mr. Ramesh Paul Christie from Nadiad (retired District Social Defence Officer from Gujarat Govt.) and
4. Mr. Kanubhai Parmar from Anand
 
This event was held by Marymatha Major Seminaty, Trichur their fifth annual symposium of the seminary-Marymatha Encoutners of Pastoral Challenges (MEPC 2012)
 
The theme of this year’s symposium was Muslim Christian Dialogue: Pastoral Challenges.
 
Prof. Herman Teule, an expert in Middle Eastern Church and Theology and engaged in studying the Islam Christian dialogue in the Middle East, was the main speaker from theCatholicUniversity,Leuven,Belgium.
 
Along with his paper, there were several other papers submitted and discussed as per the below list:

(2) Fr. Jacob Prasad, Pontifical Institute, Alwaye, Kerala: On “Inspiration and Interpretation: Convergences and Divergences.  Christian Perspectives”
 
(3) Dr. Mohammad Siddique Seddon,London: came along with students, paper was on
“Islam inBritainand Early Muslim Migration toAbyssinia: Theological and civilisational Paradigms”
 
(4) Fr. Roy Vettikuzhiyil CMI, Kerala: On “Traditions and Practices of Islam in Kerala”
 
(5) Dr. A.K. Abdul Majeed: On “SUFISM”
 
(6) Prof. G. Lazar, SVD fromMadras: On “What Unites us is Greater than What Divides us: Islam-Christian Dialogue in the Context of India”
 
(7) Dr. N.P. Hafiz Mohamad: On “Islamic Response to Secularism: Responding to Modernity”
 
(8) Fr. Jose Pennaparambil: On “Islamic Fundamentalism a Philosophical Outlook”
 
(9) Sr. Teresa Joseph FMA, Mumbai: On “Peace a Common Forum For Islam-Christian Dialogue of Life”
 
(10) Prof. Herman Teule,CatholicUniversityLouvainfrom Beljium: On “Middle Eastern Christians in Interaction with Islam A Historical Approach”
 
(11) Fr. Tony Neelankavil, Dean, Mery Matha Seminary, Mulayam, Kerala: On “Is Trinity Monotheistic? Islamic and Christian Perspectives Implications to the Understanding of the Person of Jesus”
 
The event was a big success and everyone participated enjoyed and returned with lost of knowledge about two religions and the issues and challenges of secularism, modernity, culture, the youth and the woman.
 
Mr. Kanubhai Parmar and friends fromGujaratleft on August 06, 2012 and came back on August 15, 2012.
