On the 25th of July, 2012, while our new President was being sworn in at Rashtrapati Bhavan, not too far away at a function at the Krishna Menon Bhavan, opp. the Supreme Court, New Delhi; Fr. Vincent Braganza; Principal, St. Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad, was awarded the Vidya Rattan Gold Medal Award by the Indian Solidarity Council, and the Rajiv Gandhi Education Excellence Award by the International Institute of Education & Management for “Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Education”. The award was conferred by G.K.V. Krishnamurthy, former Chief of the Election Commission; Mr. Joginder Singh, former Director of the CBI; Justice O.P. Verma, former Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court and former Governor of Punjab; Mr. Bhishma Narain Singh, a Gandhian and former Governor of several states and Minister of Education in the Indira Cabinet. The awards were conferred at a seminar on “Education and Socio-economic Development” at which these luminaries presented their views.
This comes as a much deserved acknowledgement of the creative leadership, not just as Principal, but also through the past 25 years of service rendered at St. Xavier’s College by Fr. Vincent Braganza. (From Shweta Wadhwa, Manager – Xavier Research Foundation).

અમારી ન્યુ રવિકુંજ સોસાયટીના રહેવાશી-ભાઈબંધ અને હાલમાં જ નિવૃત્ત થયેલ કાર્યપાલક ઇજનેર શ્રી. અરવિંદ મેકવાને વ્યવસાયમાં ઝંપલાવ્યું છે. એમના આ સાહસ માટે ખૂબ ખૂબ અભિનંદન અને આ સાહસમાં એમને સફળતા મળે અને પુષ્કળ પ્રગતિ કરે એવી ઈશ્વરને પ્રાર્થના. આણંદમાં સરદારગંજ ચોકડી પાસે આવેલા “સૂરજ કોમ્પલેક્ષ” માં ‘ડિઝાઇન કૉર્નર’ નામે વ્યવસાય શરૂ કર્યો છે. ઓગસ્ટની ૨ જી તારીખે સવારે ૯ વાગે આણંદ તાબાના સભાયાજ્ઞિક ફાધર આલ્બર્ટના વરદ હસ્તે આ દુકાનને ખુલ્લી મૂકવામાં આવી હતી. આ પ્રસંગે કુટુંબના સભ્યો ડો. જયંત મેકવાન, શ્રી. શશિકાંત મેકવાન, પ્રવીણ મેકવાન ઉપરાંત હેવમોરના શ્રી. યોગેશભાઈ, શ્રી. માર્ટીન મેકવાન, શ્રી કનુભાઈ પરમાર, શ્રી. જયંતિભાઈ અને ઘણા સ્નેહિજનો હાજર હતા.

નડિયાદ પાસે આવેલા સલુણ ગામમાં દિવ્ય દયાનું દેવળ બાંધવામાં આવ્યું છે જેનાથી બધા વાકેફ હશે જ. જ્યાં દર મહિનાના પ્રથમ શુક્રવારે, બપોરે ૨ વાગે મિસ અને પછી ૩ વાગ્યે દિવ્ય દયાની ભક્તિ થાય છે. ઘણા લોકો શ્રધ્ધા સાથે પોતાની માંગણીઓ લઈને ત્યાં જાય છે અને માંગણી પૂરી થયાનો સંતોષ મેળવે છે. જેના કારણે દિવસે દિવસે તેનો મહિમા વધતો જાય છે. બપોરે ૩ વાગ્યે ચર્ચમાં જે ભક્તિ બોલીને થાય છે તે જ ભક્તિ શ્રી. પુષ્પાબેન ક્રિસ્ટી રોજ એમની રીતે એમના બનાવેલ રાગમાં ગાઈને કરતા હતા. એક દિવસ એમને ગાતા ગાતા વિચાર આવ્યોકે આ ભક્તિને જે તેઓ એકલા જ ગાય છે તેજ રીતે બધાજ ભક્તજનો પણ ગાય અને ફક્ત મહિનાના એકજ દિવસને બદલે દરારોજ પોતાના ઘરે પણ ગાઈ શકે તો કેવું સારું. જેનાથી પ્રભુનો મહિમા પણ વધતો જાય અને પ્રભુની કૃપા અને શાંતિ દરેક કુટુંબ ને મળે. તથા જે લોકો કોઈપણ કારણસર દિવ્ય દયાના દેવળમાં ના જઈ શકે તો તેઓ ઘરે રહીને પણ સંગીતમય સીડી સાંભળીને ઈશ્વરની ભક્તિ કરી શકે. બે વરસથી આ વિચાર એમના દિમાગમાં સળવળ્યા કરતો હતો. સંજોગવશાત એમની દીકરીના લગ્નમાં શ્રી. અજયભાઈ નો ભેટો થયો જેઓ સારા સંગીતકાર છે. તો શ્રી. પુષ્પાબેને તેમને દિવ્ય દયાની ભક્તિની સીડી બહાર પાડવાની પોતાની ઈચ્છા વ્યક્ત કરી. તો શ્રી. અજયભાઈ રાજી થઈ ગયા અને એક દિવસ તેઓ મળ્યા તો શ્રી. પુષ્પાબેને પોતાનો રાગ સંભળાવ્યો જે તેમને ગમ્યો પણ એમની રીતે થોડો સુધારો કરીને સ્ટૂડીઓ માં જઈને ગાયક કલાકારો ને બોલાવીને સરસ સંગીતમય દયાની ભક્તિની ગુલાબમાળાની સીડી મે મહિનાની૬ તારીખે તૈયાર કરી દીધી. કેટલાક અવરોધોની વચ્ચે તૈયાર થએલી આ સીડીનું વિમોચન જૂનની ૬ તારીખે બપોરે ૩ વાગે સલુણ દિવ્ય દયાના દેવળમાં ફાધર ફ્રાન્સીસના હસ્તે થયું અને નડિયાદમાં ગ્લોરી ઓફ ગુજરાતના સિસ્ટર મારિયા માયાના હસ્તકે જુલાઈની ૮ તારીખે થયું. હવે આ સીડી ભક્તજનો માટે ઉપલ્બ્ધ છે. જેની કિંમત ફક્ત રૂ. ૫૦ છે પણ વધુ રકમ ચૂકવીને તેમના નેક કામમાં મદદરૂપ થઈ શકો છો.

શ્રી. પુષ્પાબેન ક્રિસ્ટી જણાવે છે કે આ સીડીની ઉપજમાંથી સીડી બનાવાવાનો ખર્ચ બાદ કરીને બાકીની બધી જ રકમ જરૂરિયાત મંદ અને હોંશિયાર બાળકોના આગળ અભ્યાસ માટે ઉપયોગમાં લેવામાં આવશે. સમાજમાં ઘણા ખુબ હોશિયાર બાળકો છે પણ આર્થીક મજબુરીને લીધે આગળ જઈ શકતા નથી તેવા તેજસ્વી બાળકોના ભણતર માટે આ નાણાંનો ઊપયોગ થશે.

Bishop Godfrey releases Fr. Varghese Paul’s two books

Bishop Godfrey de Rozario, SJ released Fr. Varghese Paul’s two new books in a large missionary gathering of Fathers and Sisters working in Baroda Diocese here at Vyara on July 26, 2012.
“I always read and appreciate Fr. Varghese writings. He writes in different Gujarati newspapers and magazines and he is widely read”, said Bishop de Rozario releasing the book.
Speaking about his two books Fr. Varghese said that “Navu Jivan, Navi Drushti” is a collection of 22 articles including on long speech given to college students at Visnagar. The book is published by secular publishers, Rannade Prakashan, Ahmedabad and priced `150/-.
The second book is the 3rd edition of a small book “Isu Mari-Tamari Nazare” which was originally a talk on Jesus Christ given to High School students and their teachers at Kim, Surat District. The book published by CISS, Ahmedabad is priced Rs.25/-. The Fathers and Sisters in the meeting welcomed the releasing of the book and burst into singing “Congratulations… Fr. Varghese” led by Fr. Joao Manuel Fernandes, the Co-coordinator of South Gujarat Missionary Meeting.
Fr. Varghese has written 42 books including 3 in English and 2 in Malayalam. The English and Malayalam books are the translations of Fr. Varghese Paul’s original writings in Gujarati.
