Dear family and friends,
I had gotten into my accident on August 15th 2016, approximately 6:00 P.M. I happened to be riding my motorcycle, and a white pick up truck had taken a left into me. I was vigorously and violently tossed off my bike. My bike and I were laying on the grass, we were both tossed about 20-30 feet. My human instinct was to get up and try to understand what was going on, but I could not move. I couldn’t feel my left arm or left leg. Finally when I looked down at my body, I understood the severity of my injuries. My stomach was ripped open, left arm hanging on by a thread, ankle ripped apart, and femur fractured and popped out of the flesh.
Fully conscious, I was rushed to Cooper Trauma 1 Hospital. Besides a fractured hip, pelvis, femur, fibula, I had to get my left arm amputated – the same arm where I had the eternal promise of God imprinted. I was in a 8-hour long surgery, which was followed by series of surgeries thereafter. Through the six-week hospital stay it was hard for me to see the end of the road and see things get better. At the time of the accident I was a very outgoing and active 21 year old. For that to be taken away was very frustrating to cope with.
Throughout the next six months I dealt the cards of setbacks and other complications due to my traumatic accident. It was difficult. With all that said, I want to thank my friends and family. You have all shown me copious amounts of love and support. I truly appreciate how everyone made me feel just at home even though I was in the hospital. I appreciate all the sacrifices you all have made for me.
Thank you for all the prayers and thoughts. By God’s grace I was discharged from the rehabilitation hospital on February 28th, 2017, six-months and a half was a long time to be away from home. I still have a long battle but I praise God that I am alive. My favorite verse will remain embedded in my heart forever and I know that God has a purpose in saving my life. I humbly ask for your continue prayers for my life.
Ankit Gohil.
