Mr. Ignas Philip Macwan father of Nilam Sanjiv Parmar passed away.

Mr. Ignas Philip Macwan of Bhavana Colony, Gamdi (native Valasan) passed away on December 29, 2019 at 5:30 AM (Indian time). He is a father of our GCSofUSA member Mr. Sanjiv Paul’s wife Nilam Parmar. He was hospitalized after a fall few weeks ago. Nilam and her son went to India on December 16 and Sanjiv and his daughter went on December 26 to take care of him. His funeral took place on the same day at 11:30 at Gamdi cemetery. 

The prayer service is scheduled for 10:00 AM (Indian time) at his residence in Bhavana Colony. May God rest him in peace and grant comfort to his family and friends.

Mrs. Rosemary John Shastri, mother of Brita Scribe passed away on November 16, 2019. She was cremated on November 21, 2019. As per her wish Brita will bury her ashes with her parents some times in 2020.

Shelina Christian, age 69, a resident of Bolingbrook, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on October 28th, 2019. She was born on March 2nd, 1950 in Anand, Gujarat India, to proud parents, Lt. Tara and Lt. Kantilal Contractor. Shelina began her life in Anand and attended local schools there. She graduated from DN High School. Following graduation, Shelina attended Anand Arts College, where she studied Economics. She married to Suresh Christian on May 8th, 1973. They began their new life together and welcomed home three children, Sachin, Shilpa, and Samir.
In 1996, she immigrated to the USA and settled in Bolingbrook, IL. She worked as Sterile Processing Technician in Hinsdale hospital. She transitioned her career to Daycare teacher, when her oldest grandchild started attending daycare.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Suresh Christian; children: Sachin Christian (Avani), Shilpa Kolekar (Ajit), and Samir Christian; grandchildren: Milan, Shaan, Nikita and Nimita; nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Her parents and two brothers, Nelson Contractor and Samson Contractor preceded her. Shelina was a member of Friendship united Methodist Church.
A celebration of Shelina’s life will be held on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019, at 10:00 am at Hope United Methodist Church (Wheatland Salem), 1852 W 95th Street, Naperville, IL 60564. Reverend Kyunghae (Anna) Shin from Friendship United Methodist church will be officiating.
Visitation with family will be held from 9:30 am – 10:00 am, celebration of life will be at 10:00 am, immediately followed by a committal service at Naperville Cemetery 705 S. Washington St. Naperville, IL 60540. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Shelina’s name to benefit her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Dr. Ishwarbhai Hirabhai Dabhi passed away on October 04, 2019.

Ishwarbhai Hirabhai Dabhi passed away peacefully on October 4, 2019 at 4:53 am. Ishwarbhai was born in Rakhial, Gujarat, India. He married Madhukanta Dabhi on December 28, 1972 and together they had three children, Dipti, Alka, and Arpit. He was a loving husband and father. Ishwarbhai worked as a professor of Literature and Journalism in N.S. Patel Arts College for 32 years. He was a devoted Christian and dedicated his life to providing service among the poor and misfortunate. He faithfully performed missionary work in India, in the United States and in Australia. He was well known in his community for his joyful nature, his dedication to missionary work and his belief in the power of prayer.

His absence will be whole heartedly felt by his entire family, his circle of friends and among his missionary community. He is survived by his wife, Madhukanta; daughters Dipti and Alka; son, Arpit; son-in-laws, Bhupen and Rajesh; daughter-in-law, Falguni; granddaughters, Alisha, Anushka and Ashka and grandsons; Akash, Ankur and Arik. Ishwarbhai was a loving brother to his sister Chanchalben, his brother Chhotubhai, his late brother Naranbhai and his late sister Sakarben. He was the beloved Uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was known to be a father figure and benefactor to a great many that knew him. His legacy and example of unselfishness, dedication to charity and unbiased affection for his fellow man will live in the hearts and memories of all those who knew him.

Mumbai, Sep. 9. The Salesian Province of Mumbai regrets to inform you that Father Ignas Macwan SDB passed away around 01:30 am this morning (Monday, 09 September 2019) at Baroda, Gujarat.

He was rushed to the Sunshine Global Hospital, Baroda, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. He was 62 years old and a Salesian for 33 years.

The Funeral will be at 11 am on Tuesday, 10 September 2019, at Our Lady of Good Health (Arogyamata Devalay), Mariampura, Petlad, Gujarat.
