Nancy Parmar was a young and ambitious pre-dental student. At the age of 20 she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia the summer of 2013 and lost her battle a year and 2 days later on July 28th 2014. Despite knowing that her survival chances are slim, Nancy continued to raise awareness of her condition and the condition of children who suffer with her with the help of organizations such as Checkmate Cancer, DKMS, SAMAR and close friends. Though the join initiative of friends and these organizations, 1300 college students, members of the South Asian community and others signed up to be bone marrow donors. Nancy’s parents, sister and Christie family is hosting a cancer charity gala in memory of their daughter. All proceeds of the event will go to the pediatric wing of Memorial Sloan Kettering.
This year’s event features the world famous Shaimak Davar Dance Team, ace Broadway choreographer Monica Kapoor, talented actress Dipti Mehta and everyone’s favorite host Monty Is Live. Guests will also be able to dance to the tunes of DJ Vani.
