The Summer Picnic – BBQ – 2018 by GCSofUSA

Dear Friends,

Please come and join us for the summer picnic-BBQ on July 04, 2018. Please bring your family and friends. 

Date: July 4, 2018 Wednesday, The Independence Day

Time: 10:00 am to 6:30 pm 

Place: Roosevelt Park, 1 Pine Drive, Edison, NJ

Picnic area – Grove 1A.

We try not to spend any money from the funds of our Gujarati Catholic Samaj of USA. We are expecting more than 100 people and it would be difficult to prepare by one or two families. In order to make it comfortable and affordable it would be ideal if each family can bring the following items for this event. This is not mandatory.

1. Family of four or less – at least one small tray of marinated chicken (legs, thighs, breasts etc.) ready for BBQ. Also bring at least one two liter bottle of soda or juice.

2. Family of four and up – at least one big tray of marinated chicken (legs, thighs, breasts etc.) ready for BBQ. Also bring at least one two liter bottle of soda or juice and one gallon of water.

3. Charcoal grill, Tent, folding chairs, rugs, cooler, playing material and any other useful item for picnic.
Besides chicken and beverages we need the following items. We would appreciate if anybody wants to sponsor any particular item.

Food items – Hotdogs, hotdog buns, burgers, cheese, BBQ sauce, tomato sauce, tomato, bag of onions, bag of jalapeno and or bell pepper, lemons, Corns, ice bags, can of salt, Watermelon etc.

Other items – Charcoal, igniting fuel, foils, plates, cups, napkins, garbage bags, hand sanitizer.

BBQ grilling items – BBQ utensils, knifes, metal grill skewers

Please confirm your participation with number of people and the items you are willing to bring, by June 30th 2018 so we can arrange all necessary items.

GCSofUSA invites for a Special Rosary prayer Meeting to Our Lady of Mount.

Dear Friends,

Please note the Novena started from September 01, and it will end on September 08. Due to long weekend and school s are open we are not able to have a daily prayer meeting. Mr. Prasann and family wanted to have a prayer meeting at their new residence. They have invited all the members of GCSofUSA and faithful to join them in special rosary prayer meeting at their residence. They are big believer of Mount Mary and wanted to pray Mother Mary to bless their home and their family.

Short details about Mount Mary:

This beautiful, wooden statue was initially brought by the Jesuits from Portugal during the sixteenth century. It was then placed atop the main altar of a tiny oratory on a hill at Lands’ End in Bandora (Bandra). Over the centuries devotion to this statue grew tremendously as numerous favours were granted.  As its popularity increased so did the number of devotees and pilgrims that  visited this shrine from all over, often referring to it as…’Our Lady of the Mount’

Novena Prayer

God our heavenly Father,

The day of our salvation dawned

When the Blessed Virgin

Gave birth to your son,

Christ our Lord,

Who set us free from sin

And gave us new life.

As we celebrate her nativity,

And join now in constant prayer with her,

We implore you

To heal the sick,

To comfort the sorrowful,

To pardon sinners,

And to grant us our special petition…

Look graciously upon us

And help us in learn from Mary

The depths of discernment and dedication to service.

Enable us, by the guidance of your Spirit,

To journey with young persons

And support them in their vocational discernment,

In the fundamental choices they make

And in their effort to be joyful witnesses

Of your Son, Jesus

You deigned to do great things

For the Virgin Mary

And brought her body and soul

To the glory of heaven:

Fill the hearts of your children

With the hope of Christ’s glory.

Amen.
