It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Pragnya Mecwan, on April 1, 2022 at the age of 53.

Pragnya Mecwan

Loving wife to Sanjiv. Cherished mother to Rhythm, Tarj, and Varunjit. Dear daughter to Chimanbhai and Premilaben. Adored sister to Rita, Jagruti and Sheetal. Dear daughter-in-law to Madhukar and Vimlaben and to sister-in-law Shital. Pragnya dedicated her life to taking care of her children, family, and friends through whom her memory will live on. Her positive, soft-spoken, and gentle personality will be missed by all of her family and friends who will carry her dreams into the future

Pragnya obtained her Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Bioscience with a specialization in Botany along with a second Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was a lecturer at the RPTP College of Sciences in India. She was gifted in the visual arts, music, and interior design. Pragnya lived a healthy lifestyle whose love of nature, spirituality, and meditation made her an inspirational person and a positive influence to all those who knew her.

Pragnya crossed continents from India to the West to build a new life with her husband, Sanjiv. Together they had two beautiful children in Rhythm and Tarj for whom she proved to be the greatest mentor in all aspects of life. She guided Rhythm and Tarj in their education, imbibed them with strength, and helped them build strong moral foundations that let them live their lives with meaning. She was the strong backbone of the family and supported her husband with unconditional love.

Pragnya fought every battle in life with courage and determination and this held true in every regard. Even when her health was declining she continued being the most selfless and mindful person who always put others before herself. It is our belief that people are never truly gone and live on through the memories of those they touched. Let us remember Pragnya as a strong warrior who never gave up, a mother who loved her children, a scholar who taught lessons inside and outside of the classroom, and as someone who lived a life filled with meaning that touched all those who knew her. Please join us on these dates to honor Pragnya’s legacy:

If you so desire, memorial donations to the Hospice of Windsor or Art of Living would be appreciated by the family.
